1. The Mission Statement
of the Incorporated Association is:

CIVic provides assistance to
the membership in relation to community information, advocacy,
policy and program development, research and consultation,
information dissemination, development and support of the
membership.

CIVic is committed to assist
the member agencies in providing a community information and
support service that is free, confidential, impartial, and
independent, and respects the rights of individuals and groups to
make decisions for themselves.
2. The values of the
Incorporated Association are:

3. The purposes for which
the Incorporated Association has been established
are:

To assist community
information centres to respond to changing community needs and be
accessible to all members of the community served, and to promote
their services effectively
-
To provide member agencies with
relevant information about funding opportunities and emerging
issues in the community.

To facilitate
relevant skills development to the member agencies.

To build
partnerships with other community organisations for the benefit of
both the membership and the community.

To provide advice
and support to members and other organisations that offer community
information as a service.

To maintain and
develop CIVic’s membership base.
-
To seek additional
sources of funding in order to more effectively achieve CIVic’s
mission and to support member agencies, to research and prepare
submissions, and to develop partnerships to enhance current
services, and to provide new services.

To work with other
peak bodies and organisations in Victoria to advocate about the
roles of Community Information Centres, and to encourage
partnerships, and to represent the community information sector to
the broader community.
