CIVic provides the following training for our interviewing staff:

Training for Interviewing Staff

A volunteer who interviews members of the public must complete the CIVic accredited training program. There is a six stage Training Program, as follows:

Stage One - Selection
Stage Two - Information Day
Stage Three - Agency Orientation
Stage Four - CHCCS6B 50-hour training
Stage Five - Probationary Period
Stage Six - Ongoing Training

Information Day
The Information Day is compulsory for interviewing staff. It provides information about working in a Community Information Centre to enable volunteers to decide if they are suited to community information work. It is appropriate for volunteers who wish to do the 'Assess and Deliver Services to Clients with Complex Needs' training, as well as for administration and reception staff.

Assess and Deliver Services to Clients with Complex Needs

Below are the new 50-hour training which replaces the previous 72-hour course. It is a nationally accredited competency (code CHCCS6B) which comprises 36 hours in the classroom and a 14-hour on-the-job training component. For more information, please see our FAQ page.

If you are interested in attending an Information Day or the 50-hour training and becoming a volunteer in one of our Community Information Centres (CICs), please contact the Volunteer Coordinator of your local CIC. Volunteer/ Training Coordinators can register volunteers for the CIVic training by completing the registration form.
